She married William Harley Abell on April 11, 1864, in Stockbridge, Wisconsin, which had been the home of her maternal grandmother, Nancy (Wallace) McKenzie, and where her twin uncles, Enoch and Enos McKenzie resided. Perhaps she had moved from Olmsted to Stockbridge to keep house for her uncles and met William there, or perhaps they had known one another earlier, as William and his family lived for a time in the 1850s in Cuyahoga County, near the McKenzie's farm in Olmsted.
At the time of their marriage, William had recently returned from serving in the Union Army, 1st Regiment, Minnesota Infantry, first as a Private and then as a Wagoner. The war had not yet ended, and these were uncertain times. The couple made their home in Winona County, Minnesota. They had seven children in 16 years; only one son and one daughter lived to adulthood. William himself died when he was just 47.
Waity died on March 13, 1900, in Winona, Minnesota, at the age of 60.
