Joyce Ashley Sites of Sheridan, Arkansas was born April 7, 1927 in Sheridan, the daughter of the late Drew Edward and Versie Jane Appling Ashley. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church at Sheridan, where she was a choir member and secretary for 20 years of the United Methodist Women. For many years, she was a member of the Home Extension Club in Altheimer and was a former Boy and Girl Scout Leader. She and her husband were selected Farm Family of the Year in 1986.

Mrs. Sites greatest occupation in life was the love and devotion for her husband, children, grandchildren and her sisters. Besides her love for her family, she was an avid Razorback fan and loved to play Dominoes with her sisters.

Mrs. Sites died Thursday, January 28, 2010 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff at the age of 82.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mildred Whitaker.

Survivors, Husband of 62 Years and 11 months, Clyde H. Sites of the home; sons, Steve Sites (Marilyn) of Sheridan; Patrick Sites of Little Rock; David Sites (Marcie) of Altheimer; Terry Sites (Michelle) of Conway; Jerry Sites (Joy) of Beebe; daughter, Pam Thompson and husband Butch of Sheridan; sisters, Trula McGarity of Sheridan;
Dorothy Gregory of Sheridan; Delphia Culpepper of Hot Springs; Betty Horton (Carl) of Sheridan; Shirley James (Ed) of Dublin, Georgia; 13 Grandchildren; Kristy George, Cindy Howard, Butch Thompson, Jr., Matthew Sites, Aaron Sites, Andrea Baker, Amy Witherow, Andy Sites, Ashley Sites, Allison Sites, Alan Sites, Austin Sites and Jacey Sites; 11 Great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, February 1, 2010 at First United Methodist Church in Sheridan with Rev. Carroll Sites and Rev. John Fleming officiating. Burial will follow at Sheridan Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 357, Sheridan, Arkansas 72150.

Words cannot express how much she will be missed by her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister and grandmother. We will treasure our memories of her.
