HAMPTON - Eunice Newton Smith died Sunday, July 23, 2017. Eunice was born in Caswell Co, NC., the daughter of Lelia and Thomas Newton. After graduation from high school and Newport News Business College, she went to work at C&P Telephone Co. In the mean-time, she met her husband-to-be William Kent Smith Sr. They were married for sixty-five years and blessed with three children.

Eunice is survived by children, William Kent Smith Jr and wife Sonia, Dr. Stephen Smith and wife Page Love; son-in-law John Robinson; two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Smith Robinson; and granddaughter Jennifer Smith Kidd. Eunice was a long-time member of Wythe Presbyterian Church and also a member of the Shelton Home Auxiliary.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the Devonshire staff and other friends for being there for her. A graveside service will be conducted at 10 am, Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Peninsula Memorial Park by the Rev. T. Clint Mitchell. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-7:30 pm at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home.
