CHELMSFORD - William G. Weir, 80, a longtime Chelmsford resident, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2006, at the Lowell General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Isabelle (Roy) Weir.
He was born in Lowell on Aug. 3, 1926, the son of the late William J. and Marion (Fleet) Weir. Mr. Weir was educated in the Lowell schools.
Mr. Weir served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and was stationed aboard the USS Springfield.
He was employed by the former Tsongas Dry Cleaners for 20 years, and at AVCO - Textron in Wilmington for 21 years.
He is survived by a son, Paul R. Weir of Manchester, N.H.; a daughter, Deborah Sanders and her husband, Robert, of Nashua, N.H.; a daughter-in-law, Lois Weir of Chelmsford; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Eleanor Sullivan of Springfield.
He was also the father of the late William G. Weir Jr., who died in 2002, and the great grandfather of the late William, Colin, and Liliana Fenochetti, who died in August 2006.
Family and friends may call at the Fay McCabe Funeral Home, 105 Moore St., Lowell. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home with the Rev. Ryan Reveley of Matthews Memorial Church presiding. Burial will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford.
