He married Karen Treweiler and they later divorced; he married Bonnie Beebee and they later divorced.
He worked in the John Deere Foundry until his retirement.
Survivors include: a son, Gregory (Barb), Waterloo; 3 daughters: Becky Appleby, Waterloo, Angie Appleby, Grundy Center, and Donna (Chris) Wilson, Dysart; grandchildren and great grandchildren; a brother, Jack, Waterloo; and nieces and nephews.
He is preceded by: his parents and a brother, Eugene.
