Kumiko M. Sexton, 83, passed away July 26 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia.

Mrs. Sexton was born in Japan on March 15, 1934 to the late Kyoshi and Yasu Maeda.

She is also preceded in death by her son Jack C. Sexton Jr. and a brother Mitsugo Maeda. Kumiko loved to travel and enjoyed watching the ocean waves. She also enjoyed gardening and being with her family and adored her grandchildren. Kumiko is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Jack Sexton. Children, Ruth S. Riddle, William "Bill" D. Sexton, Connie Eldridge (Greg), and Robin Stallings (Gary); sisters, Amiko Eno and Tsuyuko Endo; brother, Toshimitsu Maeda; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service to Celebrate Mrs. Sexton's life will be held Saturday, July 29 at noon at South Point Baptist Church in Belmont with the Rev. Will McKinney officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be private
