John Lazar, 83, formerly of Bennett Street, Luzerne, died Saturday at Kingston

Health Care CenterBorn September 12, 1913, in Swoyersville, he was the son of the late Alexander and Christine Luzetski Lazar.

He was employed as a miner and worked at the Harry E. Breaker, Swoyersville.

He was a member of St. Vladimir's Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Edwardsville.

He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Helen Rochus, in 1993; a sister, Ann Yatsko; and a brother, Michael.

Surviving are daughters Marie Capral, Edison, N.J.; Christine Southworth, Forty Fort; three grandchildren; sisters Mary Shara and Helene Brdaric, both of Luzerne; Margaret Levitsky, Kingston; Irene Thomas; Pringle; brothers George, Connecticut; Steve, Chase, Jackson Township; and Peter, Courtdale.

Funeral services with a Divine Liturgy will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Vladimir's Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Zerbey Ave., Edwardsville. The Rev. Alex Buryak will officiate.

Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
