George J. "Slug" Kurowski, Jr., 75, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2017, in his Shillington residence.

He is survived by his wife, Creeda (Bensinger) Kurowski, who he married July 2, 1967.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late George J., Sr., "Whitey", and Joan (Setley) Kurowski.

George was a 1960 graduate of Governor Mifflin and attended Albright College.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

George worked in the melt shop for 30 years at Carpenter Technology.

He loved baseball and was the St. Louis Cardinal's # 1 fan. George was a Mifflin sports fanatic, an avid golfer, a member or Clover Park Athletic Association, Reading Football Officials Association, and a lifetime member of Sinking Spring VFW.

In addition to his wife Creeda, George is survived by three sons: George F., husband of Amanda N. (Arnt) Kurowski, Shillington, Keith A., husband of Lesley (Radinovic) Kurowski, Shillington, and Timothy J., husband of Stephanie (Fegley) Kurowski, Kenhorst. Other survivors include three siblings: Joanne (Kurowski) Osterman, James Kurowski, and Georgeann Waldbiesser; four grandchildren: Emily, Cassidy, Natalie, and Ava, and an uncle, Ed Kurowski.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, August 3, 2017, at 1 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will be private in Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
