James J. Ciampi, 86, of Exeter, passed away unexpectedly at home Monday, July 31, 2017, surrounded by his family.

Born in West Pittston, he was the son of the late Carmen and Mary Garafola Ciampi.

Mr. Ciampi was a member of Corpus Christi Parish at Immaculate Conception Church, West Pittston.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served his country during the Korean War.

Prior to his retirement, he worked as a foreman for the Pittston Gas Co., and was the owner of Ciampi's Greenhouses, Exeter.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, the former Connie Roberts; a son, James and his wife, Marion Ciampi, Exeter; a daughter, Susan and her husband, Michael Holland, Old Forge; and grandchildren James, Michael, Kyle, Merritt and Carmen. Also surviving is a sister, Helen Shannon, Exeter.

Funeral services will be private for immediate family members. Interment will be in West Pittston Cemetery.
