Ed Calhoun, Olympic Skeet Shooter, Dies

Edwin C. L. Calhoun, 67, of Delmar, died Sunday in Kent General Hospital in Dover. He was an internationally known skeet shooter and at one time competed in the Olympics. He was in New Jersey skeet shooting when he suffered a stroke. He was being brought home to Delmar, when he suffered another stroke near Dover, where he was hospitalized last weekend. He was a member of the Maryland State Athletic Hall of Fame, the National Skeet Shooting Hall of Fame, the Tri-State Sportsman's Club, the National Skeet Shooting Association, American Legion Post No. 64, and the State Board of Examiners for Hearing Aid Dealers. He founded the Delmarva Hearing Aid Center in Salisbury.

Born in Ocean City, his parents were the late Edwin Calhoun and Hettie Lewis Calhoun. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Worth Calhoun of Delmar; a son, Lewis E. S. Calhoun of Delmar; four step-daughters, Mrs. John Lee Taylor of Pocomoke City, Patricia Barnes of Leonardtown, Md., Janet Mason of Hallwood, and Deborah Watson of Nashville, Tenn.; two brothers, Harry Calhoun of Berlin and Charles Calhoun of Port Charlotte, Fla.; a granddaughter; and 10 step-children.

Funeral services ... Holloway Funeral Home, Salisbury. The Rev. Homer C. South Jr. will officiate. Interment will be in the Rehoboth Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Rehoboth. ...
