CHANDLERVILLE -- John F. Pearn, 84, of Ashland, formerly of Chandlerville, died at 3:10 p.m. Saturday, March 28, 1998, at his residence.
Born May 31, 1913, in rural Ashland to Omar and Lella Flinn Pearn, he married Velma Willis on Dec. 15, 1933, in Bowling Green, Mo. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Tom (Beverly "Jodie") Standish of Washington; two brothers, Sherwood of Quincy and Gayland of Ferndale, Mich.; one sister, Kathleen Rall of McAllen, Texas; and three grandchildren. Three brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
He owned and operated Chandlerville Telephone Co. from 1949 to 1972. He also served on the Chandlerville Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years.
He was a member of the Illinois National Guard for many years before joining the Army and serving in World War II, where he was stationed in Iran for 3 1/2 years.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Lintner-Buchanan Funeral Home in Chandlerville. Friends may call after 4 p.m.
Tuesday at the funeral home, where family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Ashland City Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association or Ashland City Cemetery.
