Funeral services for Mrs. Mary D. Burgess, of Virden will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Virden Methodist church. Rev. James Krank will officiate and burial will be in Virden cemetery.
Mrs. Burgess, 77 died Tuesday in Memorial hospital, Springfield, following a short illness. She had been admitted to the hospital Nov. 5, after suffering a heart attack.
Mrs. Burgess was born Jan. 10, 1879, in Bremen, Germany, a daughter of Frederick and Marie Hulcher. She came to the United States with her parents and an older brother at the age of 3. She spent her childhood in the Atwater community and had resided in Virden all her adult life.
She was married to David Burgess, who preceded her in death. She was a member of Virden Methodist church, the W.S.C.S., Virden Woman's club and the American Legion auxiliary.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Eva Riedle and Mrs. Lucille Foster, both of Virden; one sister, Mrs. Rose Rahn, Springfield, and four brothers, Ahler and Adolph Hulcher, both of Virden; John Hulcher, Springfield, and Elmer Hulcher, Girard.
The body is at the Berry funeral home, Virden.
