Obituary for Margaret Leoda (Lyons) Barto

Margaret Leoda Lyons Barto, 74 of Independence, WV passed away Monday, August 07, 2017 at her son residence. She was born December 18, 1942 in Newburg, daughter of the late Vester William “Dink” and Oda O’Dell Johnson Lyons. Margaret worked as a bartender at the VFW in Masontown, worked in housekeeping at Hopemont Hospital, a cook at Scotch Hill Dairy Bar and a was a caregiver for many. She loved playing bingo, cards, picking berries and ginseng. She enjoyed cooking and canning. She was a loving mother and caring grandmother. Margaret is survived by one son, Tim Barto and wife, Kelly, Independence, one daughter, Peggy Field, and husband, Tim, Masontown; eight grandchildren, Brandon Barto, Nicholas Barto and Megan, Michelle Barto, Ashley Barto, Felicia Barto, Gracie Barto, Gage Barto and Hunter Field, one step-grandchild, Timothy Field Jr: three great-grandchildren, Hayden, Sydney and Scarlette; three brothers, Donald “Duck” Lyons and Linda, Richard Lyons and Debbie, all from Newburg, Roger Lyons and Alice, Scotch Hill Rd; four sisters, Gloria Jean Baylor, Newburg, Judy Stockdale and companion, Phillip, Masontown, Connie Larew, Newburg, Darlene Adams and Fred, Independence; one brother-in-law, Robert Taylor; one sister-in-law, Betty Jo Lyons; close friend, Bonnie Jo Cummings, Kingwood; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Margaret is preceded in death by two sons, Charles Edward Barto and David Allen Barto, one great-granddaughter, Autumn Barto, two brothers, Albert Lyons, John Allen Lyons; two sisters, Charlene Taylor, Bonnie Sue Lyons; close friend, Scott Lee Cumming. Family and friends will be received at the Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown St. Newburg, WV, Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 2-8pm and Friday, August 11, 2017 from 9am until time of service at 11am with the Pastor Sonny McNear officiating. Interment will follow at Gladesville Cemetery.
