Services for William Earl Shelby, 89, Mabank, were held Saturday, December 19, in Eubank Memorial Chapel, Mabank, with Rev. Don Teague officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery, Mabank, under direction of Eubank Funeral Home, Mabank. Mr. Shelby died December 16, 1998, in Athens.
He was born August 30, 1909, in Erath County, to William Edd and Callie Miller Shelby. He lived in Dallas before moving to Mabank in 1968. He was a member and deacon at the First Baptist Church of Mabank. He retired in 1973 from Proctor & Gamble in Dallas.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ammie Dell Shelby, in 1991.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Bobbye Shelby, Canton; sisters, Vera Gantt, Canton, Marie McManus, Eustace, and Emily Williams, Dallas, four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Mike Rowan, C.W. Rowan, Wilson Williams, Larry McManus, Royce Wayne Hutcherson and Jackie Hutcherson.
