Mr. Cantrell died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000, at SunBridge Care Center for Redding.
Born June 4, 1927, in Big Bend, he is a lifelong resident of Shasta County.
He was a bartender at the Cascade in Redding and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include longtime companion Frances Popejoy of Redding; daughter Evora Miller of Happy Valley; brother Miles of Cottonwood and Orland of Big Bend; sisters Margie Hood of Grass Valley, Madeline Coy of Montgomery Creek and Mae Conley of Big Bend; and three grandchildren.
