Eldon LeRoy Hatch
1931 - 2017

Early Life: Eldon was born September 18, 1931, in Victor, Idaho, to Ivan Hile Hatch and Mary Elmina Birch Hatch. He graduated from Ogden High School.
Life's Work/Service/Interests: Later, he obtained his associate degree in business from Weber College in Ogden. He applied that business knowledge in a wide variety of management experiences, including managing a men’s clothing store, fast food restaurants, as a building maintenance supervisor for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Las Vegas, Nevada, and his favorite job, as a missionary with his wife, Donna, in Toronto, Canada. Eldon’s greatest joy has always been his family. His love and devotion for his sweetheart, Donna Jean Hamlin Hatch, has been a great inspiration for his children. They were married July 15, 1953, enjoying 64 years of marriage. Eldon has always been known for his generosity and kindness. He was known as the Candy Man by the children in the Red Pines LDS Ward because of his habit of handing out the stash of chocolates he kept in his pocket. He was a wizard with cars and a strong supporter of his three sons in Scouting. He always had a twinkle in his eye for his two daughters and a mischievous grin for his grandchildren and great grandchildren. In his final days, as throughout his life, he was surrounded by family and friends both old and new. Eldon had the gift of making friends everywhere he went and the even more rare gift of making those friends feel like family. Eldon LeRoy Hatch passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at the Central Utah Veterans Home in Payson, Utah. He was 85.
Family Message: "Eldon’s smile, generosity, silly jokes and love will be missed by all but can still be seen echoed in his children and grandchildren. He has been an inspiration to all who have had the privilege of knowing him."
Survived By: His loving wife, Donna; sons: Jerry Hatch, Theo Hatch and Scott Hatch; and daughters: Andrea Gilstrap and Mainette Barnes; 24 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.
