John W. Macksey, 78, passed away on February 22, 2011, at the University of Toledo Medical Center. He was born in Detroit, Michigan, on January 23, 1933, to John and Dorothy (Jones) Macksey. John served in the Army Reserves as part of their Financial Corp. He was a Libbey High School graduate and also of the University of Toledo with a major in finance. During his life long career as a builder he owned many companies, including Diversified and Macksey Builders, which built many commercial buildings, homes and apartments in the Toledo area. Along with his business interests, he was a Life Master Bridge Player, a Scrabble enthusiast and an avid University of Michigan football fan. John also loved walking at area Metro Parks. John and his wife, Mona celebrated their 50th anniversary earlier this year. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family and grandchildren. John is survived by his wife, Mona; children, Mark (Amber), Pamala Sullivan, Laura (Dean) Wyrick; eight grandchildren; sisters, Patricia Rhonehouse, Carol Macksey and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
