Preceded in death by parents, wife Bessie Kater Barnes, brothers: Emory, Edgar, Alvie, Elmer and an infant brother; sisters: Leona Costin, Ollie Beauchamp and Elsie McConkey.

Survived by son James Edsel Barnes of Houston, Texas; daughters Mrs. Thomas (Oleta) Crabtree of Bethany, Missouri; Mrs. Claude (Lorraine) Black of Cape Coral, Florida; Mrs. Richard (Edith) Stamp of St. Joseph, Missouri; Mrs. Leah Lindgren of Inglewood, California; brothers: Walter Barnes of Albany, Missouri, Howard Barnes of Denver, Colorado, Roy Barnes of Bakersfield, California; sisters: Mrs. Myrtle Korn of Deerfield, Illinois and Mrs. Phebe Cannon of Denver, Missouri; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
