CENTRAL CITY — Darlene I. Strong, 86, of Central City, formerly of Norfolk, died on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Litzenberg Long Term Care Center in Central City. Private family services will be held at a later date.
Darlene Iva Aldrich was born on January 13, 1931 in Fullerton to Charles and Bertha (Hedglin) Aldrich. Darlene grew up in the Fullerton area and attended Fullerton Schools. In 1946, Darlene married Ralph Strong at Osceola. Following their marriage, they moved to Norfolk. While in Norfolk, Darlene worked at Sherwood Medical, where she retired in 2013. She then moved to Cottonwood Estates in Central City in 2013. Her health then forced her to move to Litzenberg Long Term Care in Central City.
Darlene enjoyed doing ceramics as well as sewing for her family. Her greatest love of all was getting to spend time with her family.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children; Dianna Lulow of Central City, Russell Strong of Central City and Debra (Dan) Friend of Central City; 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Strong; her brothers, Gene Aldrich, Ernest Aldrich, Melvin Aldrich and Howard Aldrich; sister, Martha Papst; step-sister, Inez (Munson) Runge; step-brother, Dwight Runge; and one granddaughter, Sarah Strong.
