George E. Nero, age 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 2, 2015.

George is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Ida Nero and brother, Leonard Nero.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Katherine; son, Michael (Debbie) LeVerso; daughter, Patti (Doug) Kelly; son, Matt (Jenny) Nero; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and sister, Lois Harrison.

George proudly served in the United States Navy and then went onto earn a Bachelors in Science for Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois.

After graduation, George worked for N.G.P.L. until retirement. George was also an accomplished musician whose primary instrument was the trombone. From a young age he participated in various musical groups which included the naval band, big bands, Swedish Choral Club and the Park Forest Singers.

He was also an active member of Calvary United Protestant Church.
