Actor. His career began in theaters in Cleveland, Ohio, Baltimore, Maryland, and then New York City working as a stock actor. He then moved to Santa Barbara, California, and worked for the American Film Company for three years before becoming a freelancer. He appeared in over 130 films from 1913-1932. He starred in over twenty films with Mary Miles Minter and many with his sister-in-law, Mary Pickford, including "Dorothy Vernon of Haddon Hall" (1924). He was married to Mary Pickford's sister Lottie Pickford from 1922-1928. Early in his career, he also directed two short films "Tangled Threads" (1915) and "The Things in the Bottom Drawer" (1917). He was known for his silent films, but he did act in four talking sound films. He was an athlete and a member of the Los Angeles Athletic Club. After he left Hollywood, he later worked with a commercial motion picture studio in Detroit and continued stage acting.
