BOURQUE, Rose Jacqueline - We are saddened by the loss of a devoted wife, a loving mother, a caring grandmother, a considerate sister and a loyal friend. She filled our lives with love and encouragement. She took great pleasure in teaching her kids the joy of reading and reaching for the dreams we held. Regardless of the challenges presented to her, she persevered until a workable solution could be found. Her relationship with our dad was the cornerstone upon which she built her life; together, they had recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. In addition to caring for her own family, Jacqueline offered her home to several seniors, some of whom were family and others who were cherished friends. She enjoyed making numerous crafts, many of which she offered to the l’Arche Community of Wolfville, to assist in their fundraising efforts. During the last few years of her life, as mobility restrictions appeared, she enjoyed doing the daily newspaper puzzles and she was one of the few folks who could always find the “Target” word. Friends and neighbours would often find her sitting at her chair by the window, where she loved watching the hummingbirds come to the feeder. Family visits from children and grandchildren gave her countless hours of enjoyment. Jacqueline is survived by her husband, Delbert, and her children, Jerry (Julie), Ottawa, Suzanne (Chris Pelham), Wolfville, David (Bernadette), Cole Harbour, Eric, Sluice Point and Renee, Wolfville, as well as her sister, Sylvia d’Entremont and brother, Gustave Burke (Jeanette), 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Frederick Burke and Emilie Pothier, sister Helen Burke and brothers, Frederick, James and Gerald. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 20, from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at Holy Family Church in Amirault’s Hill on Wednesday, July 21, at 11:00 a.m. Family flowers only. Donations in her memory can be directed to the Canadian Cancer Society or the l’Arche Community in Wolfville, 10 Gaspareau Avenue, Wolfville, NS B4P 2C2.
