Margie Ann (Abshire) Self, the daughter of Osker and Annie Land Abshire, was born in Orr, OK on September 26, 1940. She passed away Monday, August 14, in Mercy Health Oklahoma City at the age of 76.
Margie was in the first graduating class from Turner High School, the class of 1959. She married Melvin Dewayne Self on February 14, 1960 in Marietta, and the couple moved to Texas to make their home. A homemaker and grocery store bakery hostess, Margie's life revolved around her awesome husband, wonderful children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends in Oklahoma and Texas. Upon retirement in 2008, the couple moved to Marietta. Margie was a member of the New Beginnings Full Gospel Church in Ardmore, OK.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and daughter, Debbie Renee Self Couch in November 2009.
Survivors include her husband of 57 ½ years, Dewayne of the home; son, Bill Dewayne Self and wife Brenda of Waxahachie, TX; two brothers, Oscar "Buddie" Abshire and wife Becky and Ronnie Dean Abshire, all of Wilson, OK; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Serving as casket bearers are Paul Self, Brian Kelley, Lynn Self, Cody Sims, Ronnie Abshire, and Oscar Abshire. Honorary bearers are Courtney Couch Sims, Brittany Kelley, Chelsea Couch, and Erin Self.
