Alice Mary (Waterman) Keeney passed away on Wednesday evening, August 16, 2017, at the age of 100. She was born in her Grandma Annie (Biddick) Peat's old rock house 4_1/2 miles southwest of Livingston in Clifton Township, Grant County, WI on April 15, 1917. Her father was Henry Hugh Waterman and her mother was Florence Adele (Peat) Waterman.

Alice attended the West Crow Branch rural school near Livingston and graduated as salutatorian of her high school class in Fennimore, WI in 1934. In 1935 she graduated from Fennimore Teacher's Training School. She taught grades 1-8 at the Irish Ridge Rural School and the Mt. Hope Elementary School. Throughout her teaching years she continued her education at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.

Alice married Daniel James Keeney on Sept. 28, 1935 in Galena, IL. She was a long time member of the Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. Since 1939, she has been a member of the Mt. Hope Country Club. Alice also participated in the Idle-Not Homemakers Club and the Grant-Crawford Retired Educators. She worked as a volunteer on the Southwest Wisconsin Bookmobile for 21 years. Alice also served as president of the Grant County Homemakers Organization.

Alice is survived by her three sons, Milton (Doris) of Hudson, Paul (Lois) of Oakdale, MN and Jim of Mt. Hope, daughter-in-law Carolyn of Mt. Hope, ten grandchildren; Robert (Mary), Sandra (Robert Hull), Daniel (Karen), Steve (Mary Elizabeth), Gary (Lisa), Kristine (Pat Hubanks), Jeffery (Barbara), Scott (Becky), Elizabeth (Keith Hansen) and Troy (Nicole). Alice is also survived by 14 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband Daniel in 1992, daughter Kathy Anne in 1944, son Edwin in 2008, grandson David in 2012, sister Anne Leffler and three brothers, Otis, Donald and Glenn.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday August 21, 2017 at the Fennimore United Methodist Church in Fennimore with burial to follow in the Prairie Cemetery. Visitation
