Lucy A. Martínez, age 81, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2017.
Lucy is survived by her children, Marian Tarin and her husband, Robert, Marla Wagner and her husband, David, John Martínez and his wife, Courtney and James Martínez and his wife, Yvonne, thirteen grandchildren, two great-grandsons, sister, Jennie Corrall, nieces and nephews, close friend, Robert Laguna and numerous other relatives and friends.
Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, Gavino and Andreita Gallegos Ávila, her husband, José T. Martínez in 1990, grandson, Joshua Tarin, sisters, Dolores Salas and Anita Carroll and brother, Tobias Ávila.
Lucy was born in 1935 in Madrid, NM and after graduation, attended Highlands University for two years. Lucy then went to work for the Federal Government, retiring in 1994 after 37 years.
Lucy and José were married on September 24, 1966 in Bernalillo, NM.  
Lucy was a long time member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, serving as President of the Legion of Mary for several years. Lucy's life centered around her Catholic faith. Lucy was a self-sacrificing, generous and very positive person. Lucy was a devoted wife, loving mother, doting grandmother and great-grandma and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A Rosary will be recited on Friday, August 25, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, on the Corner of Lomas and Tennessee NE, Albuquerque, NM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. Cremation will follow and interment will take place at Santa Fé National Cemetery, Santa Fé, NM at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the Legion of Mary at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 811 Guaymas Place NE, Albuquerque, NM 87108.
