Bertha Rebecca Spach was the youngest of three known children of Lewis Nathaniel Spach (1833-1865) and Emeline Kimel (1831-1916), who married 09 Feb 1859 at Forsyth County, North Carolina. After Lewis died, Emeline remarried to John Joseph Walk (1814-1874) on 19 Feb 1871 at Friedberg, Davidson County, North Carolina and had two known additional children. Some records show Emeline married a 3rd time (before or after John?) to a Mr. Harding. Does anyone know if this is true?

Bertha married James Lindsay Hartman (1855-1923) on 21 Mar 1880 at Davidson County, North Carolina. Bertha and James were the parents of eleven known children, namely:
