Mary Raggi, 91, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Saturday at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.
She was born on May 28, 1915 in Gualdo Tadino, Italy, and was a daughter of the late Angelo and Josephine Benzi Donnini.
Mary was a member of the Church of St. Boniface, Blackman St., Wilkes-Barre. In her early years she worked in the local garment industry and in 1950 she founded the D & R Restaurant and Pizzeria of Parsons and Miners Mills. She also managed the Square Lunch for several years in Wilkes-Barre. She was an avid bowler for many years, associated with the 30 Club of Wilkes-Barre.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, John Raggi, in 1995; son Serafino Raggi in 1989; infant daughter Joann in 1937; brothers John and Michael Donnini; and sister Alda Marini.
Surviving are a daughter Josephine (Joan) Eustice and her husband, Richard H., Buck Township; grandchildren Grace Ann Starrie, Denise Bernatovich, Rich Eustice Jr., John J. Raggi and Serafino F. Raggi; great-grandchildren Laura Colleran, Ian Starrie, Jennifer Lewis and Jessica Eustice; several great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; sister Lena Havard, of Parsons; and daughter-in-law, Myrtle Lee Raggi, Parsons.
The funeral will be held Monday at 8:45 a.m. from the Corcoran Funeral Home, 20 S. Main St., Plains, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Boniface Church, Wilkes-Barre. Entombment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Twp.
Friends may call today from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Boniface Church, 225 Blackman St. Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
