Samuel Stevens Sands III was originally entombed in a white mausoleum on the Idle Hours Estate of his stepfather William K Vanderbilt I & his mother Anne Harriman Vanderbilt. When Willie K died in 1920 the mansion was willed to Harold Stirling Vanderbilt, Samuel's body was disentombed by Charles Daly Undertaker from Islip, New York and cremated at Fresh Pond Crematory in January 18, 1921. his cremains were picked up by William H. Earl an attorney.
