Carol Ann Mitchell Rummel Bowles, 61, of Ripley, wife of Harold F. Bowles, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2011, at St. Francis Hospital in Charleston following an extended illness.
She was born August 30, 1949, in Charleston and was a daughter of the late James and Mary Hudson Mitchell.
Carol worked over 40 years as a medical transcriptionist at Jackson General and St. Francis hospitals and retired from Jackson General. She was family-oriented and a patriotic supporter of veterans and veterans organizations, the Ripley Volunteer Fire Department and the Humane Society, both locally and as a member of the ASPCA.
Her presence will be sorely missed on this earth.
In addition to her husband, survivors include son, Jonathan Lee Rummel of Shepherdstown; daughter, Stacey Dawn Abbott of Ripley; brothers, William R. Mitchell of New Mexico and Dr. Charles R. Mitchell of South Carolina; one sister, Sharon K. Clarkson of Alaska; and grandchildren, Dekota Lee Abbott and Adawnika CheyAnn Abbott, both of Ripley.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Conway Sue Mitchell.
Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Saturday, August 6, at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley. Interment will follow in the Judson Baptist Church Cemetery, Bills Creek Road, Hurricane.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at O'Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery, and two hours prior to the service Saturday at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley.
