Mabel Potter Penfield was the youngest daughter of Charles Seymour Penfield & Susan Adella Potter.

She was a Reconstruction aide and physical therapist for the US Army Medical Department during WWI.

In Berkley, California on 14 Jan 1928, she married Merle Leslie Mercer. The couple had no children. She and Merle retired in Pt. Loma, California where she later died.
