Louis M. Lovcik, 81, Wahpeton, ND, passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at St. Catherine’s Living Center, Wahpeton.

Louis was born July 22, 1935, the son of Louis J. and Mathilda (Houska) Lovcik at Pisek, ND. He grew up in Pisek where he graduated from High School. He served in the US Army from 1955 to 1957. He was united in marriage to Carol Wooldridge on June 19, 1958 in Park River, ND. He graduated from Mayville State Teachers College in 1960 and started his teaching career in Hope, ND, and later taught in Wyndmere, ND until 1970. Louis taught in Wahpeton from 1971 until 1992 where he taught Business classes and was Wahpeton’s first Vocational Education Coordinator. Carol passed away October 17, 2015, Louis continued to reside at St. Catherine’s Living Center.

Louis was a member of Woody Keeble VFW Post 4324 and Hafner-Miller-Ross American Legion Post No. 20-Wahpeton. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his sons and friends.

Louis is survived by his six sons and daughter: Gary (Beth) Lovcik, Placentia, CA; Kelly (Cleo) Lovcik, Breckenridge, MN; Theresa Rassel, Fargo, ND; Steve (Ann) Lovcik, New Hope, MN; Larry Lovcik, Wahpeton; Andy (Lori) Lovcik, Brea, CA; Tony (Brenda) Lovcik, Plymouth, MN; 9 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and 11 step grandchildren and a brother Aaron Lovcik, Oregon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Carol, and one brother Don Lovcik.
