Born in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Newton J and Mary E (Daley) Young. He was a lifelong resident of Hagerstown.
For the past 12 years, he had operated Rocco's Tavern.
Mr Young was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, the Goodwill Athletic Club, BPO Elks, North American Rod and Gun Club, and Western Enterprise Fire Company.
Surviving are son, William Hartman; sisters, Mrs Ruth Wiegel and Mrs Margaret Shaner, both of Hagerstown; brothers, Harry E, Miami, Fla; Russell N, Hagerstown, and Raymond O, California; and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 pm at Christ Lutheran Church by the Rev W R Fearet. Inerment in Rest Haven Cemetery.
