Azelle Gray Speer
Azelle Gray Speer formerly of Texas City, from 1950 till 1982, died Aug. 27, 2017 in Lake Jackson TX. She was born on December 25, 1929 in Bloomington Indiana.
She graduated with Masters Degrees in Education and Library Science from the University of Houston Clear Lake. She retired after 20 years as Librarian and school teacher from Columbia ISD. She had been living and working in West Columbia TX for thirty years. She formerly was a dispatcher for Galveston County Sheriffs Dept. and the La Marque police dept. and also taught private music lessons at A&G Music studio in Texas City.
She is predeceased by her parents William Freeman and Pauline Lyon Gray of Victoria TX two sisters and husband Robert H Speer, Jr. of Texas City.
She is survived by two sons Robert G. Speer and wife Jackie Massey Speer of Austin TX and Jeffrey A. Speer and wife Rhonda Martin Speer of Clute, TX and two grandchildren Jeffrey Speer of Texas City and Laney M Speer of Lake Jackson TX.
Azelle was very much a daddy's girl that liked everything outdoors, hunting with her dad, traveling and camping with her husband and boys. She really enjoyed being a leader in the scout troops that her sons were associated with and going on camping trips with them. She also enjoyed music, giving accordion lessons, going to the symphony and plays. Azelle will most assuredly enjoy dancing again in Heaven with her fantasy partner, Patrick Swayze. She was also welcomed by her father, mother and sisters, Carey Doyne Gray Porter and Marjorie Gray Daughters.
Visitation at Chapelwood Methodist Church, Lake Jackson Tuesday September 5th from 6 to 8pm. Graveside service at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery, Wednesday September 5, 2017 at 2 pm.
