Michael John Aberle was born to Nikolaus and Anna (Schweitzer) Aberle 40 hours after his twin brother John Peter.

He married Catherine Thomas on April 29, 1929. They farmed north of Trail City, SD. The couple parented 13 children. After Catherine had passed away, Michael married Catherine's twin sister Magdelene Senger.
