Albert (A.C.) Tate, 77, of San Jose, Calif., died Sunday, May 27, 1990, suddenly at his home due to a heart attack.
Son of the late Shirley and Rose Tate, he was born January 20, 1913 in Blytheville, Ark. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Ira Tate.
He attended school at Steele, Mo. after moving there with his parents on their farm until he bought his own farm.
In 1938 he moved to Porterville, Calif., where he worked in a packing house. In 1941 he came back to Missouri and brought his parents, sisters and brothers with him. They resided in Campbell, Calif.
On May 20, 1941 he was inducted into the Army from Sacramento, Calif. He was stationed at Fort McArthur in the Coast Artillery at San Pedro, Calif. until 1944.
He was united in marriage to Olga Nygaad fro South Gate, Calif. on February 26, 1944 at the Lutheran Church at Bell, Calif. Four months later he was sent to the South Pacific, where he was on active duty in the Philippines and New Guinea. He remained there until the war was over in December, 1945. A.C. returned to San Jose and worked at various places until he was hired at Food Machinary Corporation of San Jose. He retired after 24 years due to poor health.
Mr. Tate was a member of Gloria Luthern Church since 1954.
He leaves his wife, Olga Tate, of San Jose;
Two brothers: Jesse Tate and Frank Tate, both of San Jose;
Two sisters: Mildred Woods of Brentwood, Calif. and Helen Van Kirk of Chowchilla, Calif..
Funeral services for Mr. Tate were conducted Thursday, May 31, 1990 at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Roses with the Reverend Andy Olsen and the Reverend Clifford Larson officiated.
Burial was at Oak Hill Memorial Park, San Jose, with Oak Hill Funeral Home in charge.
Pallbearers were Willis Niles, Ray Barboza, Elwood Anderson, Harold Zirpel, Floyd Shores, and Frank Kubo.
