Gladys Darline Nix, 81, of Sherwood, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2009 at her home. Gladys was born April 29, 1927 to the late Albert and Maude (Sullivan) Fox in Forrest City, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie G. Nix, Sr. Gladys spent her life creating a home for her children. In her later years, she worked as a demonstration person for Sam’s Wholesale Club. Gladys loved being outdoors whether she was fishing, using her metal detector or just smelling the flowers. Known as “Gurny” to those closest to her, she was a giving person who never met a stranger. She was known for her cream puffs and her manicotti. Gurny will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children Betty Helgeson and Jimmie G. (Ann) Nix, Jr, both of Jacksonville; her grandchildren Jesse (Elaina) Nix of Cabot, Kristy (Jason) Lynch of Sherwood, Michael Helgeson of Jacksonville and Marilyne K. Nix of Jacksonville; Eight great grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral Services will be on Thursday, April 2, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at 1:30 p.m. 7724 Landers Road North Little Rock, AR 72117.
