DECATUR — Helen F. Beery, 89, Decatur, died March 7, 2007, at Woodcrest Nursing Center in Decatur.

She was born April 9, 1917, in Adams County, the daughter of Otto Hildebrand and Flora (Bracht) Hildebrand. She married Robert V. Beery, on Jan. 1, 1936, in Adams County.

She attended Faith Fellowship Church in Tocsin, Ind. Helen was a previous member of Salem United Church of Christ in Magley, Ind.; was a charter member of the Sunbeam Garden Club; taught Sunday School in the children's department; and was active in Child Evangelism Fellowship for several years.

Helen was a graduate of Kirkland High School Class of 1934. She was a longtime supporter of Habitat for Humanity and modeled environmental stewardship for many years by recycling. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a son, David A. (Ingrid) Beery of Bloomington; three daughters, Mrs. Larry (Dorene) Rodocker of Carmel By The Sea, Calif., Mrs. Ron (Ruth Ann) Harris of Anderson, and Mrs. Robert (Susan) Stewart of Indianapolis; a sister, Marie Grether of Loveland, Colo.; a brother, Carl Hildebrand of Decatur; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Irene Peck; and one brother, Walter Hildebrand.

Services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday in the Woodcrest Chapel, 1300 Mercer Ave., Decatur, with Chaplain John Follett officiating. Burial will be in Salem United Church of Christ Cemetery, Magley, Ind.

Visitation will be 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Fort Wayne Rescue Mission.
