EARNIE OAKS, SR.

Gate City- Earnie Glenn Oaks, Sr, Age 68 resided in Kingsport, TN and raised in Gate City, VA was born December 24, 1948 and went to be with his Heavenly Father, September 4, 2017 after a brief unexpected illness.
He graduated from Gate City High School, was a Vietnam Veteran, and retired from Brock Srvcs. He was an avid Gate City Blue Devil fan, and could be found most fall Friday nights at the field cheering for his team. He had a huge capacity of love for everyone he met and in return was loved by many.
He was preceded in death by his parents Howard and Shirley Oaks ; one brother Paul Oaks and several other friends and family members.
Earnie is survived by one son, Earnie Glenn Oaks, Jr and wife Toni of Kingsport, TN ; and one daughter Krystal Warfe and husband Robbie of Keokee, VA ; Five grandchildren : Zachary, Jaden and Luke Oaks and Alex and Hailey Warfe ; one great-grandchild, LilyAnne Oaks of Zach and Chaisse ; Three brothers : Mike Oaks and wife Sherry of Church Hill, TN, Bobby Oaks and wife Terry, and Jeff Oaks and wife Loretta both of Gate City, VA and several nieces, nephews, friends and family.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 7th at Scott County Funeral Home from 5 to 7 PM, funeral to follow at 7:00 PM. Charlie Taylor officiating. Music will be provided by the Gateway Singers and David Caldwell.
Friends may also call anytime at the residence of his brother, Jeff Oaks.
A Military Graveside Service will be conducted by the American Legion Hammond Post #3 / # 265 on Friday, September 8th at 1:00 PM at Holston View Cemetery
Serving as Pallbearers will be Zachary and Jaden Oaks, Bobby Oaks, Tommy Tipton, B. K. Addington, and Carter Sloan. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bobby Kerns, Ronnie Lane, Tyler Tipton, Alex Warfe, and Luke Oaks.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jeff Oaks for opening his home to care for Earnie through his last days and to Tara Dockery for the care you provided at his passing.
