Funeral services for Sherry Lynn Atkinson, 69, of Madisonville and formerly of Buffalo, are set for 3 PM, Monday, September 4, 2017 at the Walters Funeral Home in Centerville. David Karrer will officiate the service and burial will follow in the Centerville Cemetery. Sherry Atkinson was born on July 13, 1948 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Charles Norman and Marjorie Lynn (Standley) Smith. She lived many years in Latexo, Texas and raised her two daughters there. She then moved to Austin and , later to Buffalo. She was a legal secretary and a member of the Leon County Cowboy Church. Sherry loved to sew. She was also talented at painting using oil paints. She enjoyed camping and flower gardening and watching the many humming birds that would visit the gardens. Sherry passed away on September 2, 2017 in Madisonville following a lengthy illness. Sherry was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Harvey Gene Atkinson. Her surviving family includes her two daughters and sons-in-law, Laura and Ronnie Goolsby of Crockett and Melanie and Bubba Brown of Centerville; a sister, Peggy Roark of Mesquite; granddaughter, Montana Brown of Centerville; and three nephews, Daniel Willingham, Robert Willingham and Tony Willingham all of Dallas.
