Charles R. Langenegger (Mr. Chaz), 80, of New Hartford passed away peacefully at St. Luke's Hospital, September 5, 2017.
He was born November 9, 1936 in Utica, NY, the son of Ernest and Gertrude Ludden Langenegger. He graduated from Whitesboro Central School and attended MVCC. He served in the United States Air Force from 1959 to 1963. On September 17, 1960, he married Nancy V. Cook at St. Mark's Church, Clark Mills, NY. He retired from the Sears Auto Center after 27 years and later from Orion Bus Industries. After his retirement, he became the neighborhood "Mr. Fix-it" and looked forward to visits from his beloved grandchildren.
Known as "Mr. Chaz", he served as Scoutmaster of Troop 52, New Hartford for 13 years. While involved in Scouting, he also served on the District Committee and received the Daniel Beard Masonic Award, the District Award of Merit, and the Silver Beaver Awards, and completed Wood Badge in 2001.
As a member of Amicable Lodge #664, he served as Master and Grand Director of Ceremonies. He also was Sovereign Prince in the Scottish Rite.
He was a member of St. Mark's Church, Clark Mills, NY where he served on the Vestry and sang in the choir.
He leaves a wonderful wife of 57 years, a daughter and son-in-law, Gretchen and Michael Clark, Rochester, NY and a son and daughter-in – law, Seth and Mai, Norfolk, VA., two adored grandchildren, Bridget and Owen Clark, and four nieces, Leslie Langenegger, Cheryl Thompson, Karen Snyder, and Valerie Phillips. He was predeceased by his son, Timothy, a sister, Joan, and two brothers, David and John.
