Hubert S. Ablard was born February 8, 1902, near Delphos, to Margaret Smith Ablard and Charles W. Abard. He departed this life Jan. 24, 1969, at the Ottawa County Hospital in Minneapolis, at the age of 66 years, 11 months, and 15 days.

He grew to manhood and spent most of his life in the Pipe Creek community.

On July 30, 1927, he was united in marriage to Hazel Ferne Halzapfel. He was a loving husband and father, and a good neighbor and friend to all.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Hazel; three daughters, Mrs. Norma Banasky, of Los Alamitos, Calif., Mrs. Janice Pounds of Delphos, and Mrs. Carol Ellison of Salina, nine grandchildren, three sons-in-law; four brothers, Roy Ablard, of Mason City, Iowa; Harold, of Kansas City, Mo., Carl of Delphos, and Louis, of Tulelake, Calif.;3 sisters, Mrs. Mabel Childs of Delphos, Marjorie Ablard of Delphos, and Mrs. Nellie Crowley of Los Angeles, Calif., and many other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were his father and mother, one sister, Lyla Grace, and one brother, Charles Ross Ablard, of Enid, Okla.

Loving and kind in all his ways,
Upright and just to the end of his days.
Sincere and kind in heart and mind
What a beautiful memory he left behind.

Funeral services were Monday, Jan. 27, at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Delphos, with the Rev. Gary Clark officiating. Richard Rolph sang "How Great Thou Art" accompanied by Mrs. John Nace. Burial was in the Hall Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Clarence Cain, Leo LaPlant, Duane McKain, Darrell Haley, Rex McKain and Walt Santner.
