Leap From Woodshed Killed Boy

Henry F. Behr Died in Terrible Agony This Morning, May 5, 1921, Concussion & Split Bowels

He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Behr, 1157 Walnut Avenue, Frankfort, Indiana.

A jump from the sloping roof of a 10-foot woodshed at the rear of his home, caused the almost instant death of Henry Francis Behr, 11 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Behr, a short time after 9 o'clock this morning. In striking the solid ground with both feet, the lad suffered an internal rupture of the bowels and his mother who came from the rear door of the home within a few seconds after the accident, found him writhing on the ground in agony.

Hurriedly summoning neighbors, the mother assisted in carrying the boy into the house where he was placed on a bed.

His injuries were to such an extent that he expired within a few minutes. The exact circumstances surrounding the tragedy will probably never be known as so great was the pain the boy suffered, he was unable to give a clear account of it, before he expired, it is said.

Ferd Aughe was called and prepared the body for burial.

Besides his parents, he is survived by four brothers, Grover, the oldest, being a pupil in the high school. The other brothers are Rudolph, Robert and William. He also leaves two sisters, Vineeda and Thelma.
