Note: No burial record has been found for Robert, but he is likely buried in the old Pentucket Cemetery in Haverhill where later generations of the family were interred. Though Robert deposed in 1664 that he was "aged about thirty years", this would put his birth year about 1634, meaning he would have been married at the age of 18. This is unlikely, and the approximate birth year given above fits him in the sequence of his siblings more suitably.

Robert was the son of Robert Clement, Sr. and first wife Lydia, of Cosby, Leicestershire and Ansley, Warwickshire, England. His mother died in Ansley prior to his father coming to New England. Robert, Jr. was married at Haverhill, Mass. 8 Dec 1652 (VR) to Elizabeth FAWNE, bapt. St Olave Old Jewry, London, England 30 April 1633, d. Haverhill 27 March 1715 (VR), the daughter of John and Elizabeth Fawne of London. Robert came to Haverhill with his father about 1642, and is named Robert Clements, Jr. on a list of Haverhill settlers by 1646. He was the first cooper in Haverhill, and in 1652 was granted six acres of plowing land. He was the administrator of the estate of his brother John in 1659.

On 11 Feb 1665[/6?], Luke Fawne of London made a bequest in his will to his kinswoman [niece] Mrs. Elizabeth Clement, living near Boston in New England, the eldest daughter of brother Mr. John Fawne, and to her son, Fawne Clement. To secure this inheritance, Robert Clement deposed on 19 Aug 1681 that he had lived in Haverhill upwards of 40 years, and that Mr. Fawne of Ipswich and Haverhill had had two daughters living with him, the oldest of whom is now the wife of Robert Clement.

Robert was still living on 24 Feb 1713/4 when he conveyed to his son, Fawne Clements of Newbury, land, a dwelling house, shops, etc. In a June 1716 deposition, Robert was said to be "deceased about four years before", but this time span is obviously exagerated since he was alive in early 1714. He therefore likely died in 1714. Children, all births recorded in Haverhill Vital Record except first and last child:

* John, b. 16 Sep 1653, d. Haverhill 16 May 1692, m. Elizabeth AYERS

* Daniel, b. 3 July 1655, d. New Jersey 10 Jan 1679/80 (per Haverhill VR).

* Abraham, b. 14 July 1657, m. Newbury, Mass. 10 May 1683 (VR) Hannah GOVE, b. March 1664, daughter of Edward-2 (John-1) Gove. He was an apprentice of Thomas Wells in Newbury in 1675, and there till 1684, then went to Hampton, NH, and then was of Salibsury in 1692. They had eight children from 1683/4 to 1700, the first born at Newbury, Mass., and the remainder b. Hampton, NH. He was apparently of New Bristol, Pennsylvania in 1703, but he was called a carpenter of Salisbury when administration of his estate was given to his son Jeremiah on 31 Dec 1716. Abraham and Hannah are ancestors of Samuel Clemens, aka Mark Twain.

* Hannah, b. 2 Oct 1660

* Fawne, b. 2 March 1661/2, d. Newburyport 1740, m. (1) Amesbury, Mass. 21 Nov 1688 Sarah HOYT, b. 28 Jan 1670, the daughter of John-2 Hoyt (John-1); m. (2) Newbury 7 March 1718 [1717/8] Dorothea (_______) Freez (VR). He was a ship builder who lived in Salisbury, Mass. for a few years, but appears to have spent most of his life in Newbury. His will, dated 23 Sep 1732, was proved 12 May 1740. He had four children with his first wife, born 1695/6 to c. 1702, and apparently a child with second wife in 1718/9.

* Nathaniel, b. 6 Sep 1663, d. Saco (now Maine) April 1689 per Haverhill VR.

* Robert, b. 29 March 1665, d. Haverhill 3 Sep 1741 (VR), m. Haverhill 18 Dec 1690 (VR) Deliverance ODDIHORN. b. c. 1670, d. Haverhill 3 March 1741 [40/1?] (VR). They had two children born 1693 and 1696/7.

Haverhill 9 March 1723/4, the son of Deacon John Johnson and Elizabeth Maverick. John had married first 8 Sep 1680 Mary Mousall, and after Lydia's death he m. (3) 17 May 1697 Mary Johnson. Lydia and John had four children born 1689 to 1695/6.
