L. Beecher Sexton, 87, of Galesburg, formerly of Rio, died at 10:51 a.m. Saturday, September 09, 2017 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg.

Beecher was born July 17, 1930 in Knoxville, the son of Charles H. and Mary A. (Allen) Sexton. Beecher married Margy Fay Lunnemann, on September 18, 1948, at the Methodist Church in Knoxville, Illinois. She preceded him in death on July 7, 2017. Beecher is survived by two sons, Richard E. (Deanna) Sexton of Galesburg and David L. (Barbara) Sexton of Naperville; three granddaughters, Sarah, Rebecca, and Kathryn; three great grandchildren, Abigail, Mia and Breck; and one brother, Charles (Janet) Sexton of Reno, NV. In addition to his wife and parents, Beecher was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.

Beecher worked for Admiral Corp. for 28 years, retiring in 1993. He loved bird watching and golfing. Beecher also was a handyman and could fix about anything. He loved to tinker around the house.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. Rev. Msgr. Ernie Pizzamiglio will officiate. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorials may be donated to the St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry.
