Lillian Edna Warren Martin, 96, died on September 7, 2017, in Asheville.

Lillian is survived by her daughter, Jean Martin Butler (Del); her son, David William Martin; grandchildren Stacey Butler Long (Mark), Kimberly Nicole Michel, and Candy Martin Chambers; great-grandchildren, Jacqueline Jean Long, Caroline Marie Long, Jesse Mark Long, James Eli Chambers, William Grant Michel, Destiny LoRay Chambers, and Madelyn Claire Michel; multiple nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and great-great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ulus Cromwell Warren and Effie Lea Watts Warren; husband, Delbert William Martin, of Columbia, SC; an infant son; brother, Thurlow Raphael Warren (Lorema); sister, Martha Elizabeth Warren Clarke (Homer); sister, Olivia Marie Warren Stanberry (Fred); brother, Leslie Warren; sister, Marcelene Warren Jackson; and sister, Maybre Vera Warren.

Lillian was born on January 29, 1921 in Candler, NC. She will be remembered as an amazing mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her devotion to her family and her church was unquestionable. Anyone lucky enough to enter her door would be greeted with a warm smile and a slice of the best homemade cake you ever had.

Funeral services for Lillian will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Piney Mountain United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service.
