Miss Bridges was born in Camilla, Georgia, on August 4, 1953, to the late Thomas W. Bridges and the late Florence Ceasar Bridges.
Being reared in a Christian home, she accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age at Walker Street Church of God in Christ in Camilla, Georgia. She later joined Mother Easter Baptist Church in Moultrie, where she faithfully served in many auxiliaries with a passion for the youth in the church and community.
She attended the public schools of Moultrie and was a proud member of the Fort Valley University Class of 1975. She worked as a social worker in Colquitt County Schools until her health declined. Sonja was engaging, passionate, and compassionate with her clients and their families during her career and beyond.
With an engaging personality, Sonja never met a stranger. She was naturally curious about others and always willing to find a way to help or assist as a loving advocate. She fervently loved God and cared for her church, and cared about family and friends.
By faith, she fought a long courageous battle with her health for over 20 years. Sonja overcame many obstacles to maintain her role as family matriot and second mother to her siblings in keeping with her promise to her mother.
She leaves seven siblings, a large extended family, and a host of friends morn her passing. Her voice, laugh, and presence is missed until we meet again.
