Charles Edward Wilkerson, Sr. 79, of Virginia Beach passed away peacefully on September 10, 2017 at his home. He was born July 27, 1938, to the late Mary Elizabeth and Woody Wilkerson of Colonial Beach, Virginia.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lucille Conrad Wilkerson; his children Therese DeSanto, Charles Wilkerson, Jr., Carroll Wilkerson, and Jennifer Hale; 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rita Lucille Wilkerson, his parents and his brother Herbert Lindsay Wilkerson.

He was a graduate of St. John's College HIgh School in Washington, D.C. In his younger days he loved camping, was known as an avid fisherman and was Captain of his yacht "The Twilight." His most enjoyable job was as an Arlington County Fireman. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus as a 3rd Degree Knight with Pope John Paul II Council #4522. He was the past owner of the family owned C. W. Wilkerson & Sons & Grandson's.

Family will receive friends Wed., Sept. 13th at Demaine Funeral Home in Fairfax, VA from 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Fairfax Station, Thurs., September 14th at 10:30 am followed with interment at National Memorial Cemetery.
