She is the daughter of John Neal and Jane Miller. Her sister Phoebe Neal married James Simister. Several Simister children immigrated to live with their Aunt Matilda (Phoebe's sister) in Pawtucket and Uncle Matthew Miller and were raised as their own, including taking on the Miller name. The Neals and Millers are intertwined several generations before through Salford, Lancashire, England and before that found in Irish Quaker records in Ireland.
