Gary Eugene Duncan, age 69, of 87 East Main St. Marion went to be with his Lord on Friday, September 2, 2005.
He was a native of McDowell County and a retired textile employee. Music was an important part of Gary's life. He was an accomplished guitarist having played for over 55 years. Gary chose to raise his family in Marion rather than accept an offer to play professionally in Nashville.
He was preceded in death by his father Gornia Lloyd Duncan and his mother Estelle (Condrey) Duncan.
Surviving are his wife Joyce (Arrowood) Duncan of the home; a son the Rev. Mike Duncan and his wife Debbie of Hayesville; a sister Sharon Pritchard and her husband John of Marion; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 3, 2005 at McDowell Memorial Park.
The family visited with friends at the graveside following the service. Dr. Terry Moore officiated. The family suggests that memorials be made to Hospice of McDowell County or the American Cancer Society.
