Deloris Bowler Smith, age 78, the daughter of William Francis and Ann Marinelli Bowler, was born on September 5, 1929 in Rockford, Illinois. She passed away on April 5, 2008 at VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach, Florida.

Deloris attended Saint Helen and Saint John of the Cross Churches in Vero Beach, Florida and Saint Bridget’s church in Loves Park, Illinois.

Deloris was educated at Muldoon High School in Rockford. and graduated from the Academy of Our Lady in Peoria, Illinois. She attended The University of Illinois, Champaign, Illinois.

She was an executive secretary, at WTVO Television as one of its initial employees in the 1950’s and retired as executive secretary at Ingersol Milling Machine Company, many years later.

Deloris spent many winters in Florida, residing part time on Marco Island and later became a full time resident of Vero Beach.

She is survived by: husband, Robert; brothers, William E. “Gene” (Marilyn) Bowler and Roland (Colleen) Bowler; step children, Jan (Juliet) Van Mir, Sallie (Michael) Hyatt, and Connie Johnson; nieces and nephews and their children.

Memorial Mass at Saint Bridget church in Loves Park, Illinois, on Monday April 14, 2008. Interment at Calvary Cemetery.
